Evaluation

At the beginning of this project, I was given a brief to promote Canon's new product around the theme of Journeys for their campaign. Once I was given the brief, I began to do some client research to develop an understanding of who Canon was and what they do. This gave me guidance on what I am doing as well as starting to generate ideas for this project. Once I did some research into the client, I wanted to see what advertising products Canon has produced to promote other products and I wanted to see if they had a certain type of way they liked to promote products or if there were any differences in each product. They have produced a variety of advertisements like print adverts, magazine covers and advertorials. The print adverts had a lot of similarities and the same with the magazine covers but there weren't a lot of advertorials which tells me that it wasn't a popular form of media. This is what lead me to go with creating a print advert and a magazine cover. After look...

Final Products & Feedback

Image
Feedback After finishing the products, I needed to get some feedback for them as this will help me gain some insight on what the client might think of the product. So I created a Google form document that included images of both products and questions underneath them. First, I started with the print advert and then the front cover. Print Advert First, I wanted to know what people liked about the advert. They said they liked the main image, the quality, the design and the colours. This tells me that the client will also like the print advert if the audience likes it. This also tells me what I did well on and what I can keep doing next time.  Not only did I want to know what my audience liked about the print advert, but I also wanted to know what they didn't like. A few people said that there was nothing that they didn't like however some people didn't like a few things in the print advert. Some people thought some areas were a bit empty and the writing under the camera wa...

Post - Production Diary

28th February 2023 Today I started to edit the print advert as I felt this was the best way to learn how to use photoshop and be prepared for the magazine covers. Before I started, I uploaded all of the photos I had taken onto the computer and I went through all the photos and sorted them by the ones I wanted to use and those I didn't want to use. Once I had done that, I opened up photoshop and I had no idea where to start. This was my first time using photoshop and I had no idea what to do or what the tools were or what they did. Before I started, I asked people around me to show me everything and how it works. Once I started to understand everything, I decided to start editing my print advert.  Before screen recording, I used the magnetic lasso tool to select the purple on the amethyst and I learned what I could do once I selected a section. From that, I decided to add more purple to the amethyst. At the start of this video, you can see that I am using the magnetic lasso to selec...

Production: Main Product

Image
21st February 2023 Today was the first day of shooting. I decided to go to The Winter Gardens to go and take some shots for the magazine cover. I went with my team so I could get a variety of photos as well as some behind the scene shots. I walked through the whole museum and took as many photos as I could. However, with it being a public space, there were a lot of people there so I had to make sure that I didn't get anyone in the shot. There were also a lot of children there as well running about so I also had to be careful with the equipment and to make sure no children were in the shots as well. I would either take photos where there weren't a lot of people or no people at all or I would just wait until no one was in the shot. I also made sure to take a variety of angles and to be careful with the lighting and the reflection in some areas of the museum. The PowerPoint below shows the images I had taken as well as behind the scene shots that were taken. 21st February Phot...

Pre-Production: Logistic Elements

Image
Now that I have done the creative elements of this project, I had to start the logistical elements to help keep me organised. It'll keep me organised by reminding me of the equipment I need, who is going to be part of this project, and where I am shooting. It also provides evidence that I have been given permission to take photos in certain locations, and the risks that each location will have which helps us have an understanding of how we can control any situation that will take place in these locations as well as evidence that everyone has agreed to take part in the project or have their photos taken.  Resource List   Personnel List Contributor Release Contributor Release Form.pdf from Katie Moon Location Scouting Locations.pptx from Katie Moon The PowerPoint above shows the locations that we had in mind as well as reasons why we would use and not use these locations location scouting.pdf from Katie Moon Location Release Location Release.pdf from K...

Pre-Production: Creative Elements

Image
Before I could start the production, I needed to start the pre-production elements for this project. So I decided to start with the creative elements of my ideas which meant that I had to create a flat plan for both the print advert and magazine cover. Below are some images of my flat plan which gives a visual representation on what I have in mind.  Flat Plan Magazine Cover The image above shows a flat plan of the magazine cover that I have in mind. The background of the magazine cover will be a collage with the product image in the middle of the page and at the top of the page, there will be a title in big bold letters. Under the image of the product, it will be split into two sections. The left side will include text explaining the details of the product, trying to convince the audience to purchase this product. The right side will include images which will show the quality of the camera. Print Advert The print advert will have a portrait image as the background. In the top left ...

Project Rationale

Pitch The next step of the project was to present my pitch on my idea for this campaign. The PowerPoint below is my pitch presentation which I have shared with my audience along with a link to a questionnaire about the pitch. The pitch presentation includes the client research, subject matter, my idea as well as a schedule that we will follow in order to get the project done within the deadline. Canon - Journey.pptx from Katie Moon Feedback The PowerPoint below shows evidence of the audience feedback for my pitch. This explains what questions I asked and why as well as gaining knowledge on whether I should go ahead with the ideas. It also gives feedback on my pitch and how I can improve it next time.
